Dr. Rene attended Johns Hopkins University where he graduated with Honors. He earned his medical doctorate from the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, and went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Columbia University Medical Center.Following his training in internal medicine, Dr. Rene went on to complete his general cardiology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He stayed at the University of Pennsylvania to complete additional training in Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart Disease. To date, he has performed more than 3000 diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and 900 interventions. He has authored and co-authored multiple articles and book chapters on coronary interventions and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). His research has been presented at the American College of Cardiology and at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) Conference. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI). He is an expert in transradial cardiac catheterization, complex coronary interventions, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure.He is board certified in internal medicine, echocardiography, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and nuclear cardiology.
